     The research vessel Friendship is owned and operated by Maine Maritime Academy in support of the Corning School of Ocean Studies.  The primary purpose of the vessel is to provide the students with a first-rate training and research platform equipped with the latest positioning and data acquisitioning systems.
     The vessel also works year-round with the scientific community throughout Maine and with many universities, colleges, and high schools.
